Blood Bank Information System Version 2 (BBISv2)<\/h4><\/div>

The National Blood Centre (PDN)<\/strong>, under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH)<\/strong>, is responsible for ensuring the availability, safety, and quality of blood supply across the country. It manages donor recruitment, blood collection, testing, processing, inventory, and distribution to over 100+ blood banks in MOH hospitals.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong>:
\nMHNexus developed and implemented BBISv2<\/strong>, a secure, cloud-native national platform designed to digitally manage the end-to-end blood supply chain<\/strong> \u2014 from donor recruitment to patient transfusion<\/strong>, ensuring a “Vein-to-Vein Audit Trail”<\/strong> and complete traceability across all blood operations.<\/p>\n

Problem<\/strong>:
\nThe MOH faced challenges in managing a safe blood supply due to fragmented data, manual processes, inconsistent traceability, and lack of centralized control over blood collection, testing, and issuance. There was a pressing need for digitalization to improve compliance, efficiency, and safety.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/strong>:
\nMHNexus delivered BBISv2<\/strong> as a modular, microservices-based solution<\/strong>, covering the entire blood ecosystem, including:<\/p>\n

  • Sourcing & Collection<\/strong>: Donor recruitment, donor management, and mobile campaigns.<\/li>\n
  • Receiving & Outsourcing<\/strong>: Receiving bay logistics and outsourced blood handling.<\/li>\n
  • Testing & Production<\/strong>: Immunohaematology, microbiology lab testing, and blood component production.<\/li>\n
  • Warehousing & Fractionation<\/strong>: Centralized blood inventory and plasma fractionation tracking.<\/li>\n
  • Matching & Issuance<\/strong>: Matching blood units, issuing for transfusion, and finance handling.<\/li>\n
  • Request & Use<\/strong>: Integration with myBOS (Blood Ordering System)<\/strong> and clinical transfusion modules for hospitals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    All steps are monitored under Quality Control, Seroconvert Tracking, and Haemovigilance<\/strong>, with end-to-end traceability to ensure safety and accountability.<\/p>\n

    Outcome:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Successfully deployed in 22 blood bank centers<\/strong>, with rollout planned for 93 additional sites nationwide<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Enabled 100% traceability<\/strong> of blood units and components from donor to patient.<\/li>\n
    • Strengthened compliance with GMPC, PDPA, haemovigilance protocols, and WHO standards<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Improved efficiency through workflow automation<\/strong>, real-time alerts<\/strong>, and data integrity controls<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Received highly positive feedback from MOH and hospital stakeholders for enhancing operational reliability<\/strong>, patient safety<\/strong>, and audit readiness<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
