Medical Program Information System (MPIS)<\/h4><\/div>

The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH)<\/strong> is the national authority responsible for managing public hospitals and healthcare facilities across Malaysia. It oversees more than 150 hospitals and plays a central role in national medical program delivery, health infrastructure, and digital health initiatives.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong>:
\nThe Medical Program Information System (MPIS)<\/strong> is a comprehensive, cloud-native enterprise solution deployed across 152 hospitals<\/strong> under MOH. MPIS supports both clinical<\/strong> and non-clinical<\/strong> operations across national healthcare programs, integrating mission-critical modules into a unified hospital system.<\/p>\n

Problem<\/strong>:
\nMOH required a nationwide solution to streamline hospital operations, standardize workflows, eliminate data silos, and improve service delivery. Legacy systems were fragmented and lacked interoperability, affecting patient management, resource planning, and clinical coordination.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/strong>:
\nMHNexus implemented MPIS with 24 integrated modules<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

  • Clinical modules<\/strong>: Outpatient Care, Pharmacy, Ward Management, Radiology, Laboratory, Inpatient Management, Transplant, Mortality, Clinical Documentation, etc.<\/li>\n
  • Non-clinical modules<\/strong>: HRM, Hospital Capacity, Asset, Facility 360, User Admin, Billing, Quality Data, Helpdesk, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    MPIS is integrated with:<\/p>\n

    • LIS (Laboratory Information System)<\/strong> for real-time lab order and result synchronization.<\/li>\n
    • RIS & GEPACS (Radiology System & General Electric Picture Archiving and Communication System)<\/strong> for radiological workflow integration and image data exchange.<\/li>\n
    • SMRP (Patient Record Information System) <\/strong>for national repository of patient information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The system is built on a microservices architecture<\/strong>, enabling modular deployment, secure communication (with encryption and role-based access), and compliance with Malaysia\u2019s PDPA.<\/p>\n

      Outcome:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Improved coordination across departments via integration with LIS-Laboratory Information System, GEPACS-General Electric Picture Archiving and Communication System<\/strong> and SMRP-Patient Record Information System<\/strong>, enhancing diagnostic turnaround time and patient safety.<\/li>\n
